ABOUT US LITHIASE SYMPTOMS VIRTUAL CLINIC CONTACTS

In general, health plans tend to cover most of the costs related to your surgery, although they usually only cover part of the doctors' fee costs.

At GALLBLADDER CLINIC, we perform many surgeries on patients who do not have health insurance coverage or who simply do not have insurance or another type of health subsystem capable of covering the costs. Our team believes that all patients should have access to gallbladder surgery, regardless of their financial situation. To this end, we offer transparent and pre-established prices for patients indicated for a laparoscopic cholecystectomy, with no additional hidden costs.

Uninsured patients: how much coes gallbladder surgery cost?

We work closely with patients who have recently become uninsured or do not have health insurance. In today's modern society, where health insurance costs are high, this is not an uncommon situation! At our clinic we are happy to schedule an appointment without any additional obligation. If you decide to have surgery, the costs for patients without insurance are 1900 euros for surgical team fees and 1800 euros for surgery center costs (including operating room rental, all materials, including recovery time and hospitalization) and 350 euros for anesthesiologists' fees. The total should be around 4900 euros to perform a laparoscopic cholecystectomy.

We don't have other hidden fees or other charges for "follow-up" consultations. The other additional costs you may incur are for pre-operative blood tests and an electrocardiogram if necessary and for your painkillers after surgery.

Laparoscopic bile duct exploration surgery has different costs and will be decided on a case-by-case basis given its complexity.

Insurance and costs

We know the billing process for your medical insurance can be confusing. Rest assured, our administrative team contacts patients every day to help them understand what costs, if any, they may incur. No procedure or authorization will be carried out without your authorization and knowledge. Additionally, our team offers this service to our patients at no additional cost.

What insurances are accepted?

At GALLBLADDER CLINIC, we accept most insurance policies available in Portugal. Currently, medical insurance only covers part of medical fees, however it covers the majority of block and hospitalization costs. We rarely have a patient who cannot be seen at our center due to their insurance. Patients can call our team to help us determine the amount that is covered by their insurance. Our team performs a FREE, quick, easy and no-obligation insurance check.

Consultation and insurance coverage

Most insurance companies allow patients to self-refer for a gallstone disease pathology evaluation. If your insurance requires an authorization, our team will be happy to help you obtain it. At your consultation, our team will help you understand what benefits you have if you need surgery. Regarding the coverage of surgery costs by insurance, most insurances usually do not cover the entire cost, namely they do not cover a significant part of the medical fees, resulting in the payment of an additional fee that varies depending on the insurance and conditions of your policy. Before carrying out your surgery, you will be informed of the amount of the additional amount.

Coverage of surgical costs

Our administrative team specializes in obtaining authorization for any surgical procedures before committing to surgery. Our experienced team can advise you on which parts of your deductible have been met, which parts have not yet been met, and what costs you may be responsible for. Regardless, we will ensure that all your costs are clearly broken down.

Payment methods

Our clinic accepts most forms of payment. For any payment, cash, credit cards or check can be used. For patients who need to pay for part of the surgery, these fees may need to be paid prior to surgery via bank check, money order, or credit card. Uninsured patients can arrange other forms of payment with our administrative team prior to the procedure.
